A note about buying online: Online pet pharmacies seem like a great deal - not only do they usually have lower prices on products you use every month, but they will also ship them straight to your door. However, these online stores are not always cheaper than your veterinarian’s prices, especially when you consider shipping expenses and the “buy X get 1 or 2 free” deals through your veterinarian. Also, check with your veterinarian to see if they will price-match online sites; the FRAH will price-match any online pharmacy if you bring in a printed sheet showing the price of the medications plus shipping. Getting the products through your veterinarian also ensures that the product is guaranteed; products bought through online pharmacies are not guaranteed through the manufacturer! That means that if your dog gets heartworms, intestinal parasites, fleas, or has adverse reactions while on the drug the manufacturer may pay the vet bill or replace the faulty product. If you buy the product online and it doesn’t work properly or your pet has a bad reaction to it you will have to foot the bill on your own and/or loose your money for the faulty product. Also remember: by state law, in order to purchase products online your pet must have been in to see the vet to establish a doctor-patient relationship; if an online pharmacy accepts your order without the signature of a veterinarian they are not only an untrustworthy company, but they are breaking the law and should be reported.
